The global lighting market is worth about 71 billion U.S. dollars, so a big market for countries in the standards are being attracted to "a battle of wits." Yesterday, the South Korean Ministry of Technical Standards Institute of Knowledge Economy said that the country's submission of the light-emitting diode (LED) lighting standard has been adopted as the International Electrotechnical Commission Draft International Standard is expected to become the first international standards for LED lighting. 

With South Korea, like China, while also being the standard-setting efforts, but the process point of view, with other countries there is a certain gap. Experts point out that China should accelerate the LED lighting international standard-setting work, the right to fight for international discourse. Development of national standards, to participate in international standard-setting is a country able to win the international competition the key. Experts Call for China to actively participate in the formulation of international standards for LED lighting, although this requires a lot of input, but they can towards the adoption of international standards for more development of the industry to grasp the initiative. Prior to that, because of standards lag behind China in many areas of international competition in the control of others, not only turned over to the high patent fees, in foreign trade barriers also often encountered standards.

In fact, not only South Korea, the United States, Germany, other countries have attached great importance to the standardization of LED lighting. Chen Yumei, general manager of China's lighting network, told reporters yesterday, LED lighting at home or a new industry, at present does not yet published the national standard. However, the Government, business and academia are actively involved in the development of standards and to participate in the development part of the international standards, standard-setting not only the skill level required to meet the domestic, but also a good convergence with international standards as far as possible.
